Assignment Service
The Millennium Assignment Service is an Millennium system service that can monitor your database to look for specific changes to the data. When these changes occur, the Assignment Service will inform you by creating an Advisory. The Assignment Service can also be instructed to generate an email notification to inform you or someone else that an Advisory has been created in response to these specific database changes.
The user interacts with the Millennium Assignment Service in three ways:
-
New Assignments - Create a new Assignment for the Millennium Assignment Service. The set of possible Assignments are partially defined by the system, and you can add conditions to them in the form of advanced options, to suit your own needs. Also tell the Millennium Assignment Service how frequently to check the database for changes that may meet the conditions of the Assignment.
Access the New Assignments page by using and then select the type of Assignment that you want to create.
-
My Assignments - View all of the current Assignments that you have created for the Millennium Assignment Service. You can also update or delete individual Assignments, and activate or deactivate all of your Assignments at one time.
Access the My Assignments page by using .
-
My Advisories - View all of the current Advisories that have been posted by the Millennium Assignment Service and link to the display of the 'data event' (where relevant) that triggered the Advisory, Or, delete an Advisory from the listing.
Access the My Advisories page by using .
Terminology
Advisory -When the conditions of an Assignment are met, the Millennium Assignment Service automatically creates an Advisory (by creating a row in the Advisories system table). If you define the Assignment to include an email notification, the Assignment Service will send you an email when it creates the Advisory.
Assignment - Users create Assignments for the Millennium Assignment Service to carry out. Each Assignment defines the database conditions that will trigger the creation of an Advisory. You can tell the Assignment Service to send you an email when an Advisory is created. And, you can tell the Service how frequently to check for an activity that corresponds to the Assignment you have defined. Each user can create multiple Assignments.
Millennium Assignment Service - The Millennium Assignment Service is a system feature. Once you create an Assignment, The Millennium Assignment Service carries it out. It 'watches' the database for the changes that meet the conditions of the Assignment. When the conditions are met, the Millennium Assignment Service creates an Advisory, and will notify you (or someone else) by email if, when you defined the Assignment, you selected the option to do so.
Notification - Assignments can be defined so that the Millennium Assignment Service will generate an email notification when it creates an Advisory. The email is the Service's way of notifying you, or even someone else, that an Advisory has been created.
Sample Assignments
Post an Advisory when:
- A particular campaign meets or exceeds a certain total.
- Any constituent makes a donation exceeding a certain amount.
- Any of your own prospects makes any donation.
- Any constituent is deceased.
- Any of your book-marked constituents has a change of address.
- An Action for a particular constituent is overdue.
- An Event has reached the maximum number of registrants and guests.
- A Membership has lapsed for a particular constituent.
Note: This interval is different from the Assignment Frequency interval. This Notification Check Interval determines how often the Millennium Assignment Service will check to see if there are any new or unread Advisories awaiting your review. The Assignment Frequency determines how often the Millennium Assignment Service will 'review' the database on your behalf to see if there has been any activity that corresponds to the Assignments you have defined. If an activity is found, an Advisory is created immediately, and at the next notification cycle, that Advisory will be detected and you will be notified.
