Gift in Kind
When a constituent makes a donation of such things as time, effort, expertise, or a company product, the Tender field in the Gift Transaction or Dues Transaction row is described as a gift in kind. When this Tender is chosen for the primary Gift or Dues row, the system will prompt for the input of information that is stored in an attached row in the secondary Gift in Kind table (unless the transaction has a Type of Credit.) This allows you to track the detailed information regarding that donation. Each Gift or Dues Transaction row may have one attached Gift in Kind row, in combination with any other appropriate secondary rows.
The Gift in Kind row includes fields for the Type of the Gift in Kind and its description, its Appraised Value, the appraiser's name, company and phone number, the appraisal date, the disposition of the property (if any).
The information that is stored in Gift in Kind rows is incorporated into the display of the primary row, when shown in the Long display mode. That information is accessible for editing independently of the primary data row to which it is linked via the context menu accessed from the Edit button shown to the left of the data.
Customize Gift In Kind Data Display and Maintenance Forms
- Using Internet Explorer as your browser, log on to the system as a Millennium system administrator.
- Access the Profiles version of the Custom Display Designer by using Millennium Explorer, .
- Click the Profiles item on the Navigation Tool Bar to access the Display Designer's context menu. Point to the Giving menu item and then click on the Gift in Kind item.
- Click Display Type and click on the desired Display Type menu item (for example, Long or Short).
- Utilize the Custom Display Designer's editing tools to make your customizations.
- Click Save to save and apply your changes.

Gift in Kind Field Descriptions
Gift In Kind data is stored in the giftinkind data table. The following fields are included. The field labels and non-displaying designations that are listed here are those that the system uses by default. If you want to override these default settings, you must customize your display definition.
Note: Custom fields are included in the data table, and are available for any purpose that you want to define. These fields are not shown on the standard Display or standard Data Maintenance forms. If you want to make use of one or more of the custom fields, use the Custom Display Designer to edit the standard Display and Data Maintenance forms.
