Hot Keys

Millennium Data Maintenance forms are designed to permit the use of hot keys. The label for each object on a form will contain an underlined letter. On the keyboard, hold down the [Alt] key while pressing the key that corresponds to the underlined letter.

Firefox browser users hold down the [Alt] + [Shift] keys while pressing the key that corresponds to the underlined letter.

The form focus will jump to the text box or to the Lookup list box that corresponds to the label, and box contents will be highlighted. Replace the existing contents by entering new data.

Some hot keys will not be unique within a Data Maintenance form. To use a form with duplicate hot keys, hold down the [Alt] key and repeatedly press the key that corresponds to the label's underlined letter until the focus of the form is placed on the box whose contents you want to edit.

Firefox browser users: duplicate hot keys are not functional in the Firefox browser. Firefox browser users can use the [Tab] key or the mouse.

A pre-determined set of hot keys are defined for most labels on the Data Maintenance forms. The Custom Display Designer can be used to change these default hot key definitions.

Tip: If there are Firefox users at your site, review all data maintenance forms. If a hot key is duplicated on a particular form, then use the Custom Display Designer to edit the labels so that no hot key appears on the form more than one time.

Access Data Insert Forms using Hot Keys

The keystroke [ i ] will access the Data Insert Form for a data table. If you are viewing a constituent's data by using your User Defined Display, the Data Insert form for the first data table shown in your Defined Display will be the Insert Form that is accessed. Verify that the focus is placed somewhere on the Data Display area first.

The keystroke [ v ] will access the Active Default Insert Form for a data table. If you are viewing a constituent's data by using your User Defined Display, the Active Default Insert form for the first data table shown in your Defined Display will be the Insert Form that is accessed. Verify that the focus is placed somewhere on the Data Display area first.
