Custom Display Designer—Web Version
The Custom Display Designer (or Customizer) allows a Millennium system administrator to tailor the standard data display and data maintenance form layouts to suit the institution's display and maintenance needs.
The following changes can be made to data display and maintenance form layouts:
- Data fields can be added or removed from forms.
- The order in which the data fields appear can be changed.
- The standard labels, or aliases, for the data fields can be changed, or a label can be hidden from the display.
- On data maintenance forms, hot key definitions for labels can be customized.
- The appearance of the data can be customized in most instances. It can be displayed as bold text, right or left justified, or it can span across the entire form.
- Lookup-table-driven data fields can be shown as codes or as values.
- A value for a particular data field (for value-driven fields) can be required before new rows are inserted into a data table, or before existing rows can be updated.
In addition to customizing data display and maintenance forms, the Custom Display Designer is also used to customize the following items:
- The appearance of Lookup Table data
- Search forms
- Data display and maintenance forms for use by the Online Constituent Directory
- Data display and maintenance forms for use with the mobile feature
The Custom Display Designer allows changes to the display area of forms. It cannot be used to customize the system interface–the appearance and function of Millennium Explorer and the toolbars, action bars, and headers that are shown above the display area.
The Custom Display Designer does not control appearance variables such as the display area's background, the font, size and color of labels or data (bold text for the data), and the display area headers. The appearance of the display is controlled by individual user preferences.
Customizations made through the Custom Display Designer are system-wide and are translated into rows in the systemplate table, which controls the Data Display and Maintenance form layouts for all users on your system.
The Customizer has a caching component that increases the loading speed of the Data Displays. Customized display or maintenance forms are recached each time they are updated. The system queries the cache when building the display and maintenance forms to get the most recent customizations.
