Printing to File

An alternative method for exporting information is to print to file. To use this option, you must install a Generic/Text Only printer driver. Use the following steps to install:

  1. Click Window's Start>Settings>Printers.
  2. Select Add Printer.
  3. Add a local Generic (manufacturer) Generic/Text Printer (model) print driver.
  4. If prompted for a disk to load the driver, use your Windows CD.

Once the new printer driver has been installed, when you select the print option, change the printer selection to the Generic/Text Only driver and select the Print to File check box on the Print form.

Selecting the generic/text only printer driver will allow you to specify a file name and location for your report. The file will have a *.PRN extension and may be opened in another application. Since you are utilizing the print function, the results from this alternative will include the report formatting.
