Using the Login Creation Utility
Resetting a Constituent Password
About the Login Creation Utility
Before constituents can log in, you must populate the user name and password fields in the Basic Data rows for each constituent. Use the Login Creation Utility to accomplish this task.
The user name and password information (column names in Basic Data: coreuserec and corepwdec) is defined and created by using the Login Creation Utility, and delivered to the constituents by whatever means you choose. When constituents use this initial information to log in, they are prompted to change the initial password.
In addition, if you implement mill_checkhint.html, constituents can choose a question from a list and enter an answer to the question. The question and answer (column names in Basic Data: corehintec and coreanswec) are used to authenticate users who forget their passwords and allow them to reset the password without administrator intervention. The absence of data in the password hint field can act as a signal to the system that the constituent has never logged on to website.
- Passwords can contain only letters, numbers, and the slash symbol (/).
- Any time password information is passed between the database and the constituent, it is encrypted for the transmission.
- The terms user name and Login ID are used interchangeably, and refer to the same feature of the constituents' login credentials.
- Only one person can run the Login Creation Utility at a time. If the utility is in use when you attempt to run it, the system issues a warning. Wait a few minutes and try the utility again.
