About the Login Creation Utility
Resetting a Constituent Password
Using the Login Creation Utility
Before constituents can log in, you must populate the user name and password fields in the Basic Data rows for each constituent. Use the Login Creation Utility to accomplish this task.
Use the following steps to set options for the Login Creation Utility and to run the utility:
- Go to .
- Select Login Creation Utility from the list of options. The Login Creation Utility form opens.
- In the Login ID section, select the information types to use for login IDs:
- Click a login ID type in the Options list. Use shift-click or Ctrl-click to select multiple items in the list.
- Click Add to add the login ID options to the Selected list. You can also use the Up and Down buttons to order the Selected list in order of preference.
- Click the Use Hierarchy option if you want the utility to search constituent records for the login ID information types in the order they are specified in the Selected list.
- In the Password section, select the information types to use for passwords:
- Click a password type in the Options list. Use shift-click or Ctrl-click to select multiple items in the list.
- Click Add to add the password options to the Selected list. You can also use the Up and Down buttons to order the Selected list in order of preference.
- Click the Use Hierarchy option if you want the utility to search constituent records for the login ID information types in the order they are specified in the Selected list.
- Click Select Worktable if you want to include an existing worktable for the utility to use. This option allows you to limit the number of records reviewed by the utility if you have a large constituent database. For information about creating a worktable to use, see Creating a Worktable for the Login Creation Utility
- Click Start to run the utility. A pop-up message indicates when the utility has completed processing, and status messages in the form show how many login IDs and passwords are created by the utility.
If you do not include the Millennium ID Number or Randomly Generated as selected options for the login ID, or Randomly Generated as a selected option for the password, there might be constituents in your database who do not have data in any of the selected options. If this is the case, the utility cannot create log in credentials for the constituent, and an error log is created that contains the constituents that were skipped by the utility. You can find the error log within the folder under the file name Login_Creation.out. Consider using the Randomly Generated option to create credentials for these constituents and selecting Use Hierarchy to make sure that selected options are included in the utility run.
